Normally , I would never commend that someone bribe a streaming equipment that tops out at 1080p resolve . Even if you somehow do n’t have a 4 K boob tube already — I ’m not try , there are plenty of salutary ground — you might well have one in the time to come . And at that power point , it ’s better to not have to bribe unexampled hardware until utterly necessary . Just go before and spend the supernumerary $ 30 now for a 4 K reading .
But it ’s unvoiced to say no to a$20 Chromecast with Google TV HD .

I would n’t use this on my main television . When it do to the TV I ’ll be watch out most — whether that ’s in the living room , or the sleeping accommodation , or wherever — I think it ’s worth spend a few supernumerary bucks toget the right streaming deviceyou can yield . Not that everything you ever watch will be useable in 4 K resolution . And there ’s an argument to be made that perchance you wo n’t even point out the difference . ( We ’ve long said that a good 1080p stream is better than a high-risk 4 one thousand current . )
If there ’s a single use case that make good sense for a $ 20 stream equipment , it ’s this : Put it in your travel bag , and leave it there . Do not take it out when you render home . This is your on - the - go cyclosis gimmick , and it shall never be more than that .
I ’m on the route a bonny amount . Whether it ’s longsighted distance for work ( and as luck would have it , that ’s not as often as it used to be ) , or shorter regional trips for the shaver ’ association football tourney , I ’ve lived out of a dish spate . The gewgaw wears off somewhat quickly , particularly when it comes to the caliber of the televisions in the hotel way . The little bit of normalcy that come with being able-bodied to watch your channels on your streaming service of choice goes a long way .
In fact , Chromecast With Google TV(the full 4 K version ) has last in my go - bag for a long time . There are a few reason for that . One is that it ’s small . The dongle , distant , and charger do n’t take up much space at all . ( Kudos to whomever opted for a plug whose prongs fold into the body of the power supply . )
The 2nd reason — and perhaps the most important — is that it does n’t cost a great deal of money . It ’s about one - third the cost of my at - home platform of pick , theApple TV 4K. And the trade - off of not having 4 K for a few hours in a hotel is one I ’m willing to make . Eventually I ’m going to be in a flush to check out and will incidentally leave the Chromecast attached to the hotel - room telly . It has n’t happened yet , knock on wood . But if and when it does , I ’ll only be out $ 50 .
Or , if you take advantage of this $ 20 Chromecast cut-rate sale , you ’ll only be out a couple Hamiltons .
