The first time Mario talks to him , he commence to wind a tale of his own adventures while Mario has been off find the Crystal Stars . He tells a longsighted , ridiculous story about his pursuit to find the “ Marvelous Compass . ” The longer Mario ’s journeying goes , the more Luigi reveal his own chronicle , which involves head off to the Waffle Kingdom and saving Princess Eclair .
The Marvelous Compass saga isThe Thousand - Year Door‘s funniest minute . Luigi ’s story vex more nonsensical with each chapter , and he ’s absolutely awful at telling it . He goes deep into foresighted , mundane details , to the item that Mario and his companions start nod off in each chapter . You ’re pull up stakes enquire if any of this actually happened or if Luigi is just trying way too concentrated to impress his crony with a tall story .
While the story is dubious , it provides some fertile ground for a true Paper Luigi spinoff . Though what especially intrigue me about a full Marvelous Compass biz is its potential as a comedy . Luigi is an treacherous storyteller inThe Thousand - Year Doorand that could make a hilarious moral force in his own adventure . I imagine him pulling off marvelous larger-than-life feats in larger - than - life story battles that seem perfectly ridiculous . The punctilious nature of his storytelling could make for some great comedy too , tasking players with doing some obsessively long-winded chore .
All of that would create a “ have your bar and eat it too ” here and now for Nintendo . It would allow the company to continue characterizing Luigi as a clumsy , but lovable merry andrew while still giving him a large solo dangerous undertaking that present him as a hero . He ’s get that moment a few times in theLuigi ’s Mansion serial , but he deserves to save Princess Eclair ( even if that quest does n’t end in love story ) .
For now , we ’ll just have to know that through devotee . you may get several project by consecrate Paper Mario players front to adjust Luigi ’s risky venture , from a comic adaption to full fan game . Those will have to do for now , but I ’m praying that the residential district can rally together to make this bump one day .
