Should you put your PC on a desk or on the primer coat ? It ’s a argumentation as old as prison term . If you have the luxuriousness of both options , then this is a option you ’ll inevitably need to make .
But let me lie my batting order down first . I like my PC on the floor . You heard me correct , and I ’m not ashamed of it either .

The floor
Stick that atrocious disastrous box where it belongs . Maybe no need to be quite so mean , but let ’s face it : your PC is a putz . That ’s my perspective , at least .
It ’s a box of electronics that help you work and maybe play , but do you need to front at your Blu - beam player to watch a UHD motion-picture show ? Do you need to have your smartphone ’s RGB lighting shining into your centre while you ’re trying to get some work done ?
If there ’s one thing a PC does n’t want , it ’s to be shown off . It is a functional piece of equipment that does the business just the same if it ’s insert aside in a desk or under one .
Well , that ’s notstrictlytrue . It stick out a great fortune of overheating if it does n’t have ready access to cool air , and if you ’re putting it on a rug or carpeting , it will almost certainly garner debris in its filters far faster , exacerbating the overheating issue .
It ’ll be quieter , though . At least until youforget to strip it , and the dust filters become clogged . But you get a pot more desk space with your PC tucked under there , out of sight . That also mean fewercables to neaten awayor deal with spaghettifying your space .
You do n’t need to be concerned with the safety of a floor - mounted personal computer , either . It ’s much less probable to be bumped or knocked over . Really , unless someone is looking to exercise their calf boot in the function , you ’re PC ’s morphologic wholeness is unbelievable to be question .
That goes out the window with favourite and vernal tyke , though . A PC mounted on a desk almost certainly has few impediments to its airflow than a personal computer place on the floor , and its fan are less likely to extract in dust and debris from the floor itself , signify you should need to scavenge the dust filters less frequently .

Despite my best efforts to split my personality in two and make an even casing for both , I ’m get going to leave my PC on the trading floor . I ’ve had many PC on my desk over the years , but today I value the negative space and lower randomness levels more than my LED lightshows of yester - PCs .
I would do it again , though . If I get the bug to build something beautiful in the hereafter , I might even rampart - mount it to get the effective of both worlds .
