TheNothing Phone 2ais a new budget offering from Nothing following the success of theNothing Phone 1andNothing Phone 2 . While I have intercourse the aesthetic of theprevious iteration of the Nothing Phone , this new one is , well … not as pleasing .
That camera layout is a choice
Nothing exit with a two-fold television camera layout on its first two phones , as the company has yet to unfreeze a triple - genus Lens camera on a phone . With the Nothing Phone 2a , it appears that Nothing will baffle with the dual photographic camera layout .
However , the locating of the dual television camera system of rules has changed , and it ’s an interesting decision . Rather than being vertically stack in the upper left-hand corner , like most phones , the Nothing Phone 2a switches to a horizontal layout that is centered near the top . The photographic camera module is also in the centre of a orbitual ringlet - similar object , which has three Glyph LED lights around it .
I ’m not certain what Nothing was thinking when designing this sound . But how could you not see that this camera module in special looks a chip — odd ? It ’s not really the sleek aesthetic that I ’ve fare to expect from Nothing after its first two phones .
Of course , liking a design is subjective , so while I personally do n’t care this dual camera faculty layout , you may wish it or simply not like . At the end of the Clarence Shepard Day Jr. , it will still work and take photos , but I just ca n’t unsee a pig beak on the phone .
It’s a very drastic departure
The more I take care at the Nothing Phone 2a , the more I dislike it . And it ’s not just the camera layout that I do n’t peculiarly give care for ; it feels like a drastic departure from the sleek aesthetic that Nothing is know for , at least for me .
I was ab initio drawn to the Nothing Phone because of the streamlined design of the first and second looping . I wish see what looks like the wireless charge spiral in the middle , surrounded by LED abstemious slip , and the original layout of the Glyph interface prompt me of the Apple logo ( with that slanted diagonal stem at the top ) .
But the Nothing Phone 2a ? It does n’t really give me those sleek aesthetic that made me like the mark , even if it is still doing something different from its competitors . I ’m not a big rooter of that bosomy design in the abject two - one-third of the phone underneath the slob - snout tv camera module .
And the lights ! That ’s one of my favorite things about the Nothing Phones . While the Nothing Phone 2a still has them , it ’s just three light-emitting diode Christ Within , and they ’re rather small , only available in the top third of the back glass around the camera .
I ’m certain the three Glyph light on the Nothing Phone 2a will serve their intent and oeuvre similarly to the Nothing Phone 2 . But still , just three ? I conceive nothing could have impart more , and it would make the whole curvy aesthetic a small more likeable .
Design is subjective
As I said , design is a very subjective thing ; while I do n’t really care for this new aim approach with the Nothing Phone 2a , that is n’t to stop others from like it .
I ’m sure that the Nothing Phone 2a will be a great budget - friendly pick for those who want to ascertain out a Nothing Phone . We should also learn a portion more about the phone very soon , with its launch event scheduled for March 5 .
