As someone who does a lot of writing for a life , reading material is a primal part of my life . They go hand in hand , after all . But most of my reading these days is focus on newsworthiness articles rather than books . Thankfully , die back toKindle devicesand other e - reviewer has change that , and I ’ve rediscover my love life of reading , well , book .
Personally , I have found the fundament modelAmazon Kindle ( 2024)that I purchased to be good enough for the rudiments . After all , as long as I can read on an e - ink display , it ’s getting the job done . Right ?
When Amazon releasedthe first Kindle Scribein 2022 , I was intrigued by the ability to use a style to write notes or highlighting as I learn , or even utilize the gadget as a digital notebook . This was the kind of puppet I would have have intercourse to have had when I was go to school . I got my hands on the new 2024 interpretation and will indite a full inspection after I ’ve put it through its pace , but here are some initial thought process after my first couple of days with the gadget .
The digital notebook I’ve been searching for
When I got theRemarkable Paper Proa few months ago , I was excited about it because I loved the idea of an e - ink digital notebook . Though it was great for handwritten and type note with the right accessories , I recover the note - taking experience with actual Book to be subpar , as it was a bit of a procedure to get written document and even World Wide Web articles on it . gratefully , the Kindle Scribe is what I ’ve been want .
I ’m the sort of referee who will mark up books as I interpret them because there ’s something I desire to look up , or some schoolbook stands out to me and I require to spotlight its importance , or I have some notes I require to make . With the Kindle Scribe and the Premium Pen , it is so well-to-do to do all these thing . I also love that the Premium Pen has a rubbery eraser baksheesh at the oddment , which find really natural to use .
like to aniPadand the Apple Pencil , the Premium Pen magnetically attaches to the side of the Kindle Scribe . The attraction strength is decent , though I wish it was a bit stronger . Still , it ’s well-fixed enough to snap up it when I need it and put it away when I ’m done and require to keep reading .
The crosscut button on the Premium Pen is also incredibly commodious . The default action is mapped to the highlighter , which , for me , is completely fine , though it can be changed in the setting . When I want to foreground something , I just pull out the Premium Pen and then press and defend while highlight — it ’s so nifty .
But the Kindle Scribe is n’t just for mark up the ledger you read — there ’s a whole separate digital notebook computer section as well . you may create as many digital notebook computer as you want and choose a paper template for each one as the nonpayment . For writing , there are four unlike penitentiary character : a highlighter , eraser , Roland de Lassus , and arrow tools . It ’s a minimum survival of the fittest for the dissimilar playpen types , but it does the job .
Actually good AI tools
One of the main upgrades on this version of the Kindle Scribe relates to the fresh AI tools . Yes , yes — AI is n’t everyone ’s thing ( it really is n’t mine ) , but whether you love it or detest it , AI is here to stay . And on the Kindle Scribe , Amazon ’s AI features are actuallygood .
The AI tools are n’t obnoxious and in your typeface . They ’re gather away and only there if you need them . You may be ask , “ What form of AI tools ? ” There are two main ones : note summaries and a refinement lineament . The sum-up lineament takes your note / notebooks and can generate a brief sum-up of what you ’ve written , while the refinement feature can take your ( peradventure sloppy ) handwriting and convince it into a script face so it ’s easier to read .
These are the only AI creature that Amazon has included in the Kindle Scribe , so do n’t worry — it ’s not overloaded with AI like yoursmartphone . And again , these dick are n’t always on your cheek ; you just employ them when you want to , so that ’s a prissy contact .
My biggest issue with the Scribe so far
As I mentioned already , you’re able to practice the Kindle Scribe to pen notes on the book you ’re scan , too . But the mode that it works is n’t ideal .
When you drop a line on the pages of a Kindle book , it essentially make a “ canvas ” that you may write text or even withdraw on with the pen . The text edition move out of the agency and will enwrap itself around the outside of your small sheet area .
This work exquisitely , but I point out that if you drop a line a banknote in a big empty infinite , say the snowy space around an figure heading before a chapter ’s text edition , it advertise the picture down , even though your writing should theoretically fit there .
I have n’t used the original Kindle Scribe , but this was an subject with the first one , too . It does face like Amazon is getting closer to a solution for this , but it ’s still a number irksome . Hopefully , the next Kindle Scribe will tolerate you to freely write all over the book as you please , or at least have an choice for it .
The best of both worlds
I would have sleep together having the Kindle Scribe for my college days , as it would have made it so much easier to take notes while record textbooks . Those Day are right smart behind me , but the Kindle Scribe is still very enjoyable .
My experience with Kindles before this has just been the base model , but the Kindle Scribe is becoming my new favorite equipment . I care that it can be used as just a digital notebook , but I can also study my books on it and write in it , too . I wish it had colouring so it would be more like the Remarkable Paper Pro , but even with its monochrome screen , it ’s been a dainty to use .
Stay tuned for my full reexamination of the Kindle Scribe 2024 amount soon . So far , though , it ’s looking in effect .
