Samsung is pitch up to release two raw QD - OLED gaming monitors atCES 2024 . We already knew about the 2024 Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6 thanks toan announcementfrom Samsung last week , but I was n’t expecting to be so impressed by them . It ’s Samsung ’s first attempt at a traditional 16:9 QD - OLED reminder after the excellentOdyssey OLED G8andOdyssey OLED G9last year , and Samsung is coming out of the gate swing .

If you missed the announcement , there are two monitors here . The Odyssey OLED G8 is a 32 - inch exhibit with a 4 yard resolution and a 240Hz refresh charge per unit . The Odyssey OLED G6 is small at 27 inches but has a 1440p declaration and a speedy 360Hz refresh charge per unit . Both are using a 2nd - gen QD - OLED control panel from Samsung Display that ’s certified with VESA ’s DisplayHDR True Black 400 and use a newfangled anti - reflective coating .

It ’s voiceless to assess reflection in a vivid demonstration way , but I unquestionably did n’t notice the typically rough reflections you see on a glossy display . Samsung is n’t give way the matte road here . These are still glossy monitor , but they seem to handle reflections a snatch estimable .

As for what 2d - gen QD - OLED tech brings , we ’ll have to wait until we ’ve had a chance to test the monitor in good order . The big pain head in the first generation was color accuracy , as we meet on theAlienware 34 QD - OLED , so hopefully , we ’ll see that area addressed this year . Brightness was already large , and it seems these new reminder are carrying the over — though , once again , I ca n’t pull out my luminousness meter and get to testing in a CES demo .

What was most striking about the two varan was the purpose . Samsung really lift its Odyssey batting order last year with a silken metal human body , and 2024 ’s design quite a little on top of that . The frame is even thinner this time around , all while sporting that sleek silver-tongued frame . The al-Qaida is slightly smaller too , and it ’s monumental , so it does n’t take up too much desk space .

The bandstand now has a textured conclusion on it , and the CoreSync kindling ring no longer has a smokey diffusion layer on top of it . It ’s still spread bias lighting , but Samsung does n’t vote down the light . It looks much more vivacious than last year ’s design .

Samsung is carry over some element of the design I do n’t love , though . The cable direction solution is once again a small rubber ring near the base of the stand . The connections are straight , too , so you ’ll require to tie down your cable television with several vigour - standoff to get a uncontaminating expression .

In gain to the innovation change , Samsung added a new AI processor to these two display . Like last year , you get the Tizen operating organization that spread up voguish apps , Samsung Game Hub , and a good deal of extra feature film . Now , it ’s bolstered by an AI poker chip that can automatically aline your picture setting depending on the content .

Samsung is talking about this in the context of use of gaming , where the options for an FPS or RPG might be dissimilar . Instead of manually toggle over to a different picture mode , the AI CPU supposedly peck up on the content on - screen and switch the picture setting automatically . I did n’t have a chance to demo this , and frankly , I can conceive of most users want to turn it off . Still , it ’s one of the more utile applications of AI we ’ve seen so far at CES .

Even after a couple of hours going back and onward playing rounds ofFortnite , the displays still managed to bedaze me . The Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6 flavour incredible , and if Samsung can collar the monetary value , they are strong rival for thebest gaming monitorthis year .

damage is a large factor , however . We ’ve seen several times over the preceding couple of years where Samsung will unfreeze a unexampled play reminder at a high damage before dialing it back . We do n’t have any pricing detail quite yet , but they will be a vital component in the growing marketing of OLED gaming options .
