A spacewalk performed by two NASA astronauts had to be call off early today when one cosmonaut ’s spacesuit live a water leak shortly after open up the hatch . Both astronauts are safe and out of their spacesuits inside the International Space Station ( ISS ) , but the water supply leak was dramatic , with spaceman Tracy Dyson telling mission control : “ There ’s water everywhere . ”
“ NASA astronauts Tracy C. Dyson and Mike Barratt are back inside the International Space Station after U.S. Spacewalk 90 ended early Monday due to a water news leak in the inspection and repair and cooling umbilical social unit on Dyson ’s spacesuit . The crew members were not in any danger as a resultant role of the leak , ” NASA wrote in anupdate .

The spacewalk was intended to run for around six - and - a - half hours , but was ended ahead of time after only 31 minutes . Just a few minutes after the crosshatch of the ISS was opened , Dyson reported the outflow , which was spray water around the air lock .
“ This water supply issue was traced to a body of water leak in the open and umbilical cool unit on NASA astronaut Tracy Dyson ’s spacesuit , ” NASA observer explained . “ At no fourth dimension was the bunch in any risk , but they did make the decision to terminate the spacewalk as it was unreadable how much weewee was go away in the piddle tanks of Tracy Dyson ’s suit . ”
The hatching was then repressurized so that the astronauts could get out of their spacesuits and return to the main discussion section of the quad station .
A similar pee news leak from a spacesuit has occurred before , as during a seven - minute spacewalk from the ISS in 2022 , European Space Agency ( ESA ) astronaut Matthias Maurer experienced a leak in his spacesuit that hadwater pooling inside his helmet .
