Replacedhas had some amazing trailers across various gaming showcases over the past few age , so I was stoke to go hands - on with it at Summer Game Fest playing period Days . Now that I have , I ca n’t wait to see more from this dangerous undertaking that might put even Square Enix’sHD-2D RPGsto shame .

When it come to gameplay , traversal is reminiscent of cinematic platformers likeAnother World . During combat , it hearken back toBatman : Arkham , as players must get into a rhythmical flow of attacking , block , and dodging to build up enough get-up-and-go for execution attacks . Armored enemies require deft dodging and smart manipulation of hard attacks to violate their armour , and it felt as cinematic as a John Wick motion-picture show fight , even though I was search at pel rather than Keanu Reeves . I could see this getting insistent after a while if instrumentalist do n’t get access to that many additional fighting abilities , but I did n’t have that trouble with the slice ofReplacedI played .
I also thinkReplacedwill avoid some of the trouble that ultimatelyplaguedHellblade 2 . It will have a lot of interesting collectibles , like full songs that the player can listen to on a Walkman - like machine , scatter throughout its world . Replacedwill also have some more open - ended areas where players can start and complete quest , although I did not have a chance to see too much of that part of the plot . If that aspect ofReplaceddelivers , then the experience has a substantial enough gist to be more than an experience that prioritizes style over substance .
It was one of my most anticipated indie games heading into Summer Game Fest Play Days this year , and it remains that way after going hands - on . Replaceddoes not yet have a discharge engagement , as the developers want to take feedback from this Summer Game Fest showing and polish the game even further before committing to one . Whenever it does come out , it will be on Xbox Game Pass across console and PC .
