WhenSaturday Night Liveis on its game , it ’s one of the funniest sketch comedy shows in TV history . A peck of that is dependent on the cast , as well as get a guest host who is truly mirthful . There ’s a reason why some invitee have been call for back to hostSNLmultiple time over the years . regrettably , even a with child guest host ca n’t do much whenSNLfalls prostrate on its face with some really awful skit .
Our roundup of the seven worstSaturday Night Liveskits admit the deadly blend of terrible idea , awful executing , and agonizingly bad operation by Edgar Guest host . Even the best comic ca n’t land every jest , but these misfire will hauntSNLfor as long as the show continues to run .
7. The Tampon Prince
This skit may be more memorable for viewing audience of Netflix’sThe Crown , as it rotate around the current King of England , then known as Prince Charles , sharing his phantasy about being transformed into a tampon so he could stay put with his mistress ( and later , his second wife ) Camilla Parker - Bowles . Dana Carvey made his last appearance as anSNLcast extremity in this skit , where Charles went forward with his phantasy with alarming results .
The one redeeming aspect of this skit is that Camilla ( Julia Sweeney ) is befittingly horrified , and she abandons Charles , whose last line is actually comical . The residuum of the sketch is just as disposable as the product that it spoof .
6. Rear Window
A coarse paper in these sketches is that some performers just are n’t suited to be comedic performers , particularly when they ’re going on live . disturbed Menactress January Jones was right smart out of her comfort zona inSNL‘sRear Windowsketch , which feature Jones as Grace Kelly , Bobby Moynihan asAlfred Hitchcock , and Jason Sudeikis as Jimmy Stewart .
The “ jape ” here is that Kelly ca n’t get through a scene without loudly break wind . And it just keeps run on and on that path . There was no saving this sketch . In Jones ’ defense , even actual comic would have had bother pretend this body of work .
5. Sasquatch
The one good thing that can be said about the Sasquatch skit is that at least the makeup and costume for Bigfoot is n’t spoiled . But when the respite of the survey is build up around Bigfoot sexually take down a camping bus ( Mikey Day ) , there really are n’t a circle of laughs to be found .
Guest host Sterling K. Brown ( a recentOscar 2024 nomineefor his supporting oeuvre inAmerican Fiction ) does his best to get anything out of this resume while offering explanation for Bigfoot ’s behavior . But this one is DOA .
4. Jennifer’s Date
When the previous Chris Farley ca n’t rescue a vignette , SNLis really in trouble . It was understandably a misunderstanding to invite Steven Seagal on the show , whom even Lorne Michaels has phone one of the worst Edgar Albert Guest hosts in the history ofSaturday Night Live .
Seagal is the black cakehole where comedy goes to die , and never more so than in this skit , where he ’s project opposite the genuinely hilarious Farley as a suitor for Jennifer ( Victoria Jackson ) . Almost any of the other action genius from the ’ XC would have been capable to get more laughs than Seagal . He did n’t even seem to wish when the vignette bombed in front of the bouncy audience .
3. White House 2018
SNLis rarely more awkward than when actual pol appear on the show . In 2015 , while he was running for Chief Executive for the first clip , Donald Trump guest hosted the show … andSNLgave him as little to do as possible because Trump just is n’t funny .
When playing himself in thisWhite House 2018sketch , Trump ca n’t even generate laughs at the idea that both Omarosa ( Sasheer Zamata ) and his daughter , Ivanka Trump , would be work in his administration . Perhaps the ultimate jape is that Ivanka and the real Omarosa actually did have jobs in Trump ’s White House . It just was n’t as rosy a picture of the future as this incredibly unfunny sketch made it out to be .
2. The Arguing Couple
Chris Rock is a large comic , and Leslie Jones is a good one , butThe Arguing Couplesketch is just awkward for both of them . It ’s one thing for a skit to miss the bull’s eye . There are plenty ofSNLsketches that have bombed .
The Arguing Couplewas next - level mediocrity that neither Rock nor Jones could salve . There are even a few time where it seems like neither performer knew their agate line . It ’s now become legendary in the show ’s lore for being a colossal miss .
1. Gen Z Hospital
Elon Muskhas the same issue that Trump does : both humans think that they ’re hilarious . Musk was at least more willing to assay to be a performer — he just did n’t have the talent to root for it off . Musk ’s entire instalment is passing cringe , but theGen Z Hospitalsketch was easily the bad skit in the show ’s history .
As seen in the film above , Musk play a doctor who attempted to verbalize with a dyad of Gen Z teens in slang that they would be able to understand . It ’s a ill written and perform sketch that not only made Musk search big , but was mortifying for anyone on theSNLwriting faculty who conceive this could turn . Yet , given the ups and downs inSaturday Night Live‘s history , there ’s always a strong chance that this sketch could be unseated by something even worse in the years to come .
