With the first season out of the way , The Acolytehas deal of spicy threads to pick up on in a potential second time of year . Whether it ’s how Yoda will react to the whole situation , the futurity of Osha ’s journey to the dark side , or what happened in Qimir ’s past — there are plenty of measured cliffhangers to speculate about .

But there are a few more inquiry apt to this season that I felt were left dangling . Whether purposefully left equivocal or not , these are the five questions still rattle around in my capitulum over a week out from watchingepisode 8 ofThe Acolyte — some of which I wish had been explored in more astuteness .

What was really happening with the Ascension?

sequence 3 stick in lots of lore and backstory behind the enchantress coven — many of which was newfangled to us . They had mystical world power , interesting cultural pattern , and a mysterious closed book about how the twins were born at the center of it all . The vergence is behind that , as we learn subsequently , but the Ascension ritual itself rest a teaser . The only thing stated about the Ascension was that it was some character of initiation rite .

But I really thought we were going to learn more about the Ascension , regardless of whether it was malicious or not . After all , it was the main reason Master Sol and Torbin invaded the castle that dark . Was it authoritative that Mae got differentiate but Osha did n’t ?

In the end , I think the Ascension was really just there to represent a alternative for Osha to make , but it still would have been helpful to watch a bit more , even just to sleep with whether Master Sol was justified in barging in .

What was Qimir’s connection to the coven?

From what we jazz by the end of the coda , Qimir ( or The Stranger ) appears to have a connection to Master Vernestra Rwoh ( the bald green Jedi ) as her former student . That ’s fascinating in its own right , but we did n’t terminate up learning how Qimir first fall upon Mae . It feel like the kind of thing we could hear in a funny ( or potentially in a hypothetical season 2 ) , but as of now , we do n’t have an explanation for how Mae ended up connected to Qimir .

This would have been helpful to see , especially since the nature of their relationship is a routine unclear in the first half of the season . Before it ’s revealed that he is a coloured side Force drug user , Qimir is portrayed more as a friend to Mae . Did he experience about Osha before they meet ? Was his end all along to get to her ? Did he slip up upon her or seek her out ? How much did he hump about what happened at Brendok ? I could see some of that get explored in future storytelling , but I would have have it off to get a better spirit for their relationship before his big reveal .

There was also the throwaway seam in episode 6 that was never addressed about his Jedi training . When involve if he was trained to be a Jedi , he responds that it was “ a really foresightful time ago . ” Now , it could just be that Qimir is referencing his own puerility . Padawans are trained at a very new geezerhood , and assuming the fictitious character is around the same age as the actor , Qimir could have left the lodge as much as 20 years earlier . Or that could have been a New York minute toward the fact that his supposed master key is known for his ability to manipulate the Midi - chlorians to make — and extend — life .

Do n’t forget — his former Jedi master , Vernestra Rowh , is over 100 year onetime , leave plenty of time for Qimir to have been Rowh ’s Padawan in the removed past .

What happened to Mother Koril?

Throughout the course of the show , we were mean to be suspicious of Mother Koril . She ’s clearly represented the dark side within the witch coven , perhaps at first just because she was a Zabrak . She looks scary , which even Master Sol seems to think . We all thought she was being coiffe up as The Stranger go into episode 5 , and when that did n’t happen , plenty of people even thought she might be the Sith Master pull the strings . The hints grew even strong in episode 7 , when she boost child Mae to espouse her anger before burning down the castle .

But in the remnant , she ends up being a bit of a red Clupea harangus . She ’s an instigator in the combat on Brendok for sure — and you could certainly argue that she ’s responsible for for the disaster that result . But she ’s not our Sith Lord . At least , not yet .

Mother Koril disappears in a comforter of smoke , which appears to teleport her out from the fighting . It line up with what we ’ve seen of other witches in Star Wars , most notably , the green sess inClone Warsby Mother Talzin . Furthermore , she ’s not ever seen among the dead bodies of the coven , nor does she seem in the timeline thereafter .

When asked by The Nerdistabout another meter the smoke conjuring trick is used , showrunner Leslye Headland state the following : “ What she is doing is what Jecki says in episode four , that it ’s an honor to see anyone transform into the Force . I think that Aniseya is transforming herself and Mae into the Force in a way that does n’t vote down them . ”

According to that account , Mother Koril was transform into the Force without dying . In other words , Koril very well may be awake and well — and when you look at the cameo of a certain Darth Plagueis — her purpose in future storytelling could terminate up being pivotal .

What is the true nature of Osha and Mae?

It ’s ride over and over throughout the serial , and when the solvent finally comes in the time of year finale , it feels like only the tip of the iceberg lettuce . Now , there ’s sure nothing wrong with that — it ’s practically a custom in Star Wars at this point .

But in the showcase of this show , the vergence lore is crucial . in person , I liked the reveal around the vergence . Master Sol ’s interest in the vergence on Brendok feels like a worthy account for many of his action . Not only was he concerned about the prophylactic of Osha and Mae , he was also cognizant of the heavy menace to the galax that such a vergence could be . From his perspective , these were n’t just Force witches doing their own matter — this was toy with a severe amount of power . Even if the coven itself was more destitute in its geographic expedition of the vergence , that does n’t think of a more menacing force from the outside might not be pull back to such power .

In a lot of ways , Sol ’s business organization about Brendok parallel the diametric decision that Luke Skywalker is tempted to make inThe Last Jediwith Ben Solo ( but ultimately does n’t , of form ) .

Unfortunately , because it ’s left for the very end , the reveal that the twins are actually a single being split into two does n’t have as much shock as it should . Part of that is because the show never explore what that mean — at least , not explicitly . understandably the two are connected , but the fact that they are n’t actually babe palpate like more of an second thought . This may be explored in next storytelling , but develop why this weigh more would have made the revealing more impactful .

How much did Yoda know?

mass are a bit freaked out about the final shot of this series . Instead of being turn on about the cameo of our small green Yoda , the events ofThe Acolytehave made us apprehensive about the canon repercussions of bringing Yoda into the story in this manner . Us fans have a high view of our favorite Jedi Grand Master , and the estimate that he may have experience about the Brendok covering - up is rubbing people the ill-timed way .

After all , he does n’t correct Ki - Adi - Mundi inThe Phantom Menacewhen he states that “ the Sith have been extinct for a millennia . ” People are worried that it forces Yoda to either be nescient of Vernestra ’s lies or volitionally manipulative toward the rest of the Jedi Council .

To me , though , it only opens up the estimate for more storytelling possibilities . Yoda does get curious when Qui - Gon Jinn says he discovered a vergence surrounding Anakin inThe Phantom Menace — and is quick to taper out the Rule of Two . Fleshing out what exactly Yoda bonk and what might convince him to keep a secret has tons of story potential and could really set up the case ofThe Phantom Menacein a big way . It ’s exactly that type of lore building that present likeClone Warsleaned into to great effect .

I ’m mostly just implicated that Yoda does n’t seem to seem much young inThe Acolyte , which is 100 years beforeThe Phantom Menace . I was at least expect him to have a bit more hair .
