After headlines being dominate by ChatGPT , Microsoft Copilot , Google Gemini , and Samsung Galaxy AI , WWDC 2024 is where we ’ll almost sure enough see Apple ’s vision for an AI time to come .

Is it cool that I can change the sky of a movie I ask ? Sure . Is it technically impressive that Samsung phones offer veridical - time , on - equipment language translation without a required internet link ? Yep . But even when effective AI smartphone features work well , they never ascend to the grade of being something that change the way I use my smartphone . They ’re excess feature on my phone that I sometimes use , and that ’s about it .
Apple has a chance to do something different
Leading up to WWDC 2024 , we ’ve heardplentyof rumors aboutwhat Apple ’s AI features in iOS 18 will wait like . So far , they go mighty similar to what we ’ve find already from Google , Samsung , and others .
Leaks indicate that iOS 18 will offer AI - assisted search capabilities through Spotlight Search and Safari , AI - generated emojis , notification / message summaries , suggested reply , new photo - editing tools , etc . In other words , many of the same features that are available on Android phones today .
These things are all fine , and Apple should offer these feature . But what I really need to see from Apple is something altogether new . I want to see AI capability so unfermented and so inventive that no one else has thought of them yet . AI on phone today can be useful , sure , but I desire something so incredibly impressive that I ’ll feel like I ’m miss out if I do n’t have an iPhone . No other AI smartphone lineament has managed to do that quite yet , and I ’m sustain out hope thatApple will be the first company to change that .
