You ’ve never seen a laptop like this — I guarantee it .

AtIFA 2024 , Lenovo showed off what might be the most bewitching laptop of the class so far — the Lenovo Auto Twist PC . It ’s just a cogent evidence of concept , but it introduces some really fun ideas into the world of laptop computer .

For starters , the laptop computer can open and close its lid with a voice command , with the user simply say “ Hey Twist , open lid . ” You have to be standing in front of the twist , but the interpreter command works quite well if you do . From there , you ’ll see that the “ twist ” scene of the laptop computer come into romp , meaning that the display can rotate almost 180 degrees . Again , this can be controlled by vocalisation by simply saying , “ Hey Twist , enter pill mode . ” This would go around the cover around and the finish the lid two-dimensional .

One of the most interesting demos was the “ Free Move ” option , which would follow you around the room using the camera . It does n’t currently use face tracking though , so if someone else step into the frame , it chooses one face to follow . This seems peculiarly useful if you ’re moving around while talking , such as in a boardroom or classroom — or perhaps even to use as a teleprompter while being able to move freely . More than that , though , it ’s just smashing .

finally , Lenovo showed off a panorama photo demo that could use the overrefinement flexible joint and webcam to take a panoramic photo , which is then stitched together using AI . It has some other interesting feature article such as closing the lid automatically when the machine is neglected .

Yes , it ’s a little gimmicky , but I come by impressed at how well the technical school demos worked .   The bidding do n’t have to meet on the dot , and the demonstration even work in multiple languages . There are still some kinks and hemipterous insect , such as the fact that there sometimes a small col when attempt to come together the lid manually . The screenland itself also felt a second wobbly on the center rotating hinge .

Lenovo is no stranger to experimentation in laptops . In fact , we ’ve even figure a Lenovo laptop that can spin out around in theThinkBook Plus Twist . The swiveling hinge is reuse here , but to much more impressive ends .

As this is a cogent evidence of construct , there ’s no guarantee Lenovo will actually release this equipment . Then again , the company has a prove racetrack record book for actually bringing experimental devices to grocery store , so here ’s to hoping this is n’t the last clip we see this interesting laptop computer .
