TCL tip in to its partnership with the NFL at CES 2023 — and we expect more of that at the 2024 show . Phil Nickinson / Digital Trends
If there ’s one affair that ’s never lacking at CES , it ’s televisions . This is the Consumer Electronics Show . And whether it ’s your first , or your fifteenth , TVs remain some of the braggy attractor not just for the industry of such devices , but for those of us there to take it all in .
But that ’s just the crest of the sure-enough metaphoric iceberg lettuce of what we have a bun in the oven at the Las Vegas Convention Center . Some of what awaits us is already known . A honorable bit continue a mystery , for now . Here ’s a look at what we know and what we hope we ’ll know soon .
2024 televisions at CES
Like we tell , CES is survive to be pretty loaded with televisions from all the usual defendant . And as usually is the case , LG has announced its new batting order forrader of CES . And as you ’d expect , these things are icky with “ AI Inside . ” ( If that ’s not a trademarked phrase yet , it should be . We ’ll gladly accept the royalties . )
LG has been quick to lecture up the processing power in both itsnew QNED lineup(that ’s a mini - pass control panel with quantum Lucy in the sky with diamonds ) , as well as its2024 gamey - end OLED solidification . The former now comes as big as a whopping 98 inches . And the latter packs even more AI processing in a range of mountains as “ small ” as 65 inches , and its wireless tech is now even better . The QNED sets will be more affordable , of form , but it ’s always fun to see how many X of thousands of buck the really large OLED Seth will run into .
That ’s what we know . What we ’re still expecting is novel fare from the other full-grown thespian — mainly Samsung , TCL , and Hisense , with the latter havingalready tease a monster 110 - column inch televisionthat should be promising than the sun . And TCL should be an interesting one , given its partnership with the NFL . WE Figure AI will boast conspicuously from each company , because everyone acknowledge which elbow room the merchandising current of air is blow . And AI processing requires , well , processors . So expect tidy sum of talk along that front as well . And many of the manufacturers also have their own savour of package — think LG ’s webOS and Samsung ’s Tizen , for starter — so expect a good flake of that as well .
The wild bill of fare ? Sony . In a pretty expectant surprise move at CES 2023 , Sony opted not to revolve out anything new and to instead break out on its own later in the year . Will it do so again in 2024 ? We would n’t reckon against it .
Soundbars and speakers and other things
This being CES , and thus the domain of televisions and the like , we ’re also expecting a middling amount on the audio side of things , peculiarly when it comes to the idiot box folks . And once again LG tipped its hand forrader of the show , witha bevy of new soundbarson the mode that promise to work even better ( and appear even good ) alongside LG ’s TV .
We ’ll get very much the same sorting of tune from the other common suspects mention above .
And we already have a contender for the “ what the heck is that ? ! ? ! ? ” award as LG undulate out somethingit calls the DukeBox . It ’s an quondam - schoolhouse subway system A and speakers , with a gossamer OLED show built in . It looks cool as hell on earth . chance are it ’ll fathom cool as hell , too . Because tube amps are cool like that .
And verbalize of cool , we ’re very much work to want a closer looking at at theLG CineBeam Qube projector . Let ’s hope the double it contrive is at least one-half as cool as the way the thing depend . And chances are LG is n’t the only one with fresh projectors on the way .
And then there are the headphones and earbuds . While we ’re not expecting anything novel from most of the major player , there are some CES mainstays . ( JBL is one name that always comes to mind . ) And it ’s the arrant prison term for some of the lesser - known companies to get eyeballs on their products , so stay tuned for that .
It ’s going to be a busy few daytime , for sure . And if not ? We ’ll justpull up in front of The Sphereto see what we can see .
