There ’s a revolution in the making . Those of us who ’ve been watching intimately know thatQualcomm ’s Snapdragon X elect chipsare rumored to be just around the turning point . And they ’re about to ignite a bomb in the world of Windows laptops .
That might fathom like exaggeration at first flush . But Qualcomm has spent the better part of this year trotting around a demo unit with this poker chip , andthe performance so far looks pretty staggering . Not only is Qualcomm claiming that its raw fries will operate circles around Intel ’s latest Core Ultra chips — butit ’s even pitting them against Apple ’s M3 . That ’s right . There ’s even a significant jump in AI performance via the cow dung ’s nervous processing unit ( NPU ) .

If the Snapdragon X elect chips are really as good as Qualcomm says , this could be as big of a start as the M1 was for the MacBook Air .
That means we could soon be getting Windows laptops that are as effective , powerful , and long - go as Apple ’s MacBooks . That ’s a big deal . mightily now , even the good of Windows option struggle to keep up with something like theM3 MacBook Air . It seems as if there will be lots of options too . Every major laptop maker has signed up , including Dell , HP , Lenovo , Asus , Microsoft , and more . rumor say the newSurface Pro 10and Surface Laptop 6 will alone adopt the new cow chip , andsome leakshave already reveal some of the new designs . It has not been announced when these other devices will roam out , but we know at least the Surface gadget will probably be announced on May 20 , the Clarence Day before Microsoft Build .
Of course , I ’m not saying that this first wave of Snapdragon X elect laptops will necessarily be worth buying over their Intel counterparts . There ’s a lot we do n’t jazz , even beyond whether they live up to the execution and battery lifespan claims .
